                  SRI LANKA PASSPORTS -  RENEWAL / ALTERATION / ADDITION

 

RENEWAL

Passports can be renewed to a maximum period of 5 years from the date of expiry or from the date of renewal (The total period should not exceed 10 years from the date of it’s issue).

 

Requirements:

i.                     Duly completed form “O” (please fill in block letters)

ii.                   Your current passport .

iii.                 Any applicant who is on indefinite visa for a period of more than one year is required to submit a letter from the Home Office (Immigration & Nationality Department, Nationality Division, 3rd Floor, India Building, Water Street, Liverpool, L2 0QN) to confirm that He/ She has not acquired British Citizenship or has not applied for such Citizenship.

If the applicant is a Dual Citizen, the original Dual Citizenship Certificate should be provided with a photocopy in place of the Home Office letter.

                  Applications for renewal will not be accepted without this letter.

iv.                  Fee £2/- per year or part of a year from the date of expiry of validity of passport. (Also please see note below)

 

 

ALTERATIONS & ADDITIONS

Requirements:

i.                     Duly completed form “O”, the passport and the following documents (as relevant)

ii.                   Alteration of name after Marriage – original marriage certificate with 2 photocopies. (also please see note below)

iii.                  Change of Profession – Professional certificate and a letter from the employer, confirming the present profession (also see note below)

iv.                 Inclusion of  name and photographs of children in the passport of mother or father.

a.      Original birth certificates of children issued by the Sri Lanka authorities with 2 copies.

b.      Original Marriage Certificate with two photo copies.

c.      Passports of both parents with 2 photocopies of pages containing photographs and names etc, pages for renewal, alteration & observation, inclusion of children and pages stamped current UK visa.

d.      Three passport size photographs of each child whose name appears in the previous passport of parent. One photograph should be attested by GP/ Solicitor.

e.      Letter of consent by both parents

f.        If the applicant is a Dual Citizen, the original Dual Citizenship Certificate with a photocopy.

 

 

v.                   any other alterations – Please submit relevant supporting documents (Originals) with a photocopy each.

vi.                 Fee: £ 2.50 per alteration/ addition (Also please see note below)

 

 

NOTE

i.                     New photographs or signature can not be endorsed on “M” series passports.

 

ii.                   Fees could be made in cash at the counter or by Postal Order / Bank Draft written in favour of “The High Commission for Sri Lanka” – London, if sent by post. Please note that personal cheques will not be accepted.

 

iii.                  All certificates and documents such as Birth, Marriage, Divorce and Professional issued in Sri Lanka should be authenticated at the Consular Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Colombo.

 

iv.                 All original certificates will be returned after perusal.

 

v.                   If the passports and documents are to be returned by post, a self addressed prepaid special delivery cover to the correct weight should be provided.

 

vi.                 The High Commission is not responsible for any documents lost in post.

 

vii.                If the applicant is unable to come personally to this High Commission to collect the Passport/ documents, they may authorise another person, in writing. The person who come for collection of documents should produce his clear identity and the original receipt issued by this High Commission.

 

viii.              Please note that submission of forged documents and making false declarations in order to obtain above services is an offence punishable under Law. Such cases will be reported to relevant authorities.  Fees paid will not be refunded in case the applicant is found to have submitted forged documents/ made false declaration.
